What is a Resistor?
A resistor is an electronic component that limits current flow in a circuit. Color bands indicate its resistance value in ohms.
Reading Color Codes
Read the bands from left to right. The first bands indicate digits, followed by a multiplier band. The last band shows tolerance (gold=±5%, silver=±10%).
Resistor Types
4-band resistors have 2 significant digits. 5-band resistors have 3 digits for greater precision. 6-band adds a temperature coefficient.
