How are calories calculated?

The calculation uses the MET (Metabolic Equivalent) value of each activity multiplied by your weight and duration. The formula is: Calories = MET × weight (kg) × duration (hours).

What is MET?

MET is a unit that expresses the energy cost of an activity. 1 MET equals the energy at rest (~1 kcal/kg/hour). Walking has ~3.5 METs, running ~9-11 METs.
