Concrete Basics

Concrete is a mixture of cement, water, sand, and gravel. The ratio of these ingredients affects strength and workability. Standard mix is about 1:2:3 (cement:sand:gravel).

Mixing Concrete

Mix concrete in a wheelbarrow or mixer. Add water gradually until reaching a thick, workable consistency. Over-watering weakens the final product.

Proper Curing

Concrete gains strength over time through curing. Keep it moist for at least 7 days. Full strength is reached at 28 days. Avoid freezing temperatures during curing.
